Why did we listen?
God's Servant is the most recent addition to the Lamp Mode performing roster. He signed as an artist with Lamp Mode in 2012 after working for two years as the Director of Operations. His flow and direction of music fit perfectly in the direction of the label.
I've listened to the God's Servant's Christmas EP and I have been keeping up with is current music releases. He is a great lyricist and theologian. His two previous projects were called Simple Love, and the Christ of Christmas.
Why you should too
Step in a guy like God's Servant.
Right now. God's Servant is putting out some of the most Christ centered, Cross lifting music in CHH. He is truly making music that seeks only to serve his King. That is where his newest album, Diadems, comes in. "I'm only here just to crown Him, that's the reason for this Diadem". With this release God's Servant give us a worship filled album that reminds us of the glories of Christ. I cannot recommend this album enough.
The album single and first song does a great job ushering in the theme. "Make Way" is a powerful song about the greatness of our King, and the attitude of his servant. Highlighted with the line,
"And I hear the people saying like now he gonna be preaching,
And to that I only say absolutely, best believe it
Don't care who cruise the deepest or the name of what your team is
I'm for name droppin, if the name droppin is Jesus"
Another song worth mentioning is "Look Ye Saints" Beginning with the Hymn, producer Mashell Leroy, gives the track a classic hymn feel, with a beat worth flowing over. God's servant kills the verses and the chorus comes in with the hymn's original sound. Combining Classic worship style and Hip Hop is genius and I can't wait to hear more CHH artists doing this.
Though I could go on talking about this album, I want to only highlight one more song. The song is called "Holy" and it features the vocals of Chris Cobbins. The purpose of this son is to unfold the glory of Christ for the listen to see clearly how awesome the King is. The Lyrics speak for themself:
"Who shall we liken
Our God and our King to
He who created all things
None can escape to
Where he cannot reach you
Whoever you are
And where ever he see you
But more than see you
Offers to free you
Don't get it mixed up
God doesn't need you
I'm talking to me too
Lest we try to shrink Him
Bring Him to act
More like we do
Hey he's beautifully awesome
Even the most rugged men want to sing to"
God get Diadems, and listen carefully. Try to catch the vision of a man who I think gets it.
